Walter T. Ham, III
“Dub”
Mr. Ham, of Charlotte, soared to heaven, Saturday night, January 30, 2010, during his beloved 23rd Psalm on the line “My cup runneth over.” His “Wiffey”, Joan, was touching him, laying beside him with her sister, Mary and his niece, Bonny, praying. It was beautiful and peaceful and there was great rejoicing in heaven and on earth. His Lord freed him from a four year struggle with fronto-temporal dementia.
Dub was born on November 23, 1943 to Walter T. Ham, Jr and Catherine Carroll Ham. He graduated from UNCC and began a career in textbook sales before teaching business and marketing at CPCC. He was pursuing a screenwriting certificate at UCLA in Los Angeles, while he worked and taught computer classes in the Beverly Hills Adult School System, when he became ill. Dub met his soul mate, Joan Hoover at church in the singles group. They celebrated their 23rd anniversary on July 5th. He taught her much about life. He always gave her more then she asked. They loved to dance, hike and travel, especially cruises. He wrote stories and scripts himself and with Joan. It was their passion. They had also been very active in Catholic Charismatic Renewal in L.A.
In addition to his wife, Joan, Dub is survived by his devoted son, Sean, and his wife, Jackie, his grateful son, Eric, (W.T. IV) and his wife, Miok; and his adoring sister, Cathy Waddey and her husband, Walter. He is greatly loved and missed by his nieces, Catherine, Christian, and Bonny and other family. He was a fun and loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle and in-law.
He and Joan returned to Charlotte two years ago, where he was magnificently fussed over by Mary, Pan, Claire, Leo, Carol, John, Ann, and Dorothy, his in-laws.
We wish to thank the staffs at PALS (Piedmont Adult Living Services), Shining Stars, and White Oak Manor and his caregiver, Wanda, for their loving care.
We love you, my precious…we will see you again.
